Offset your driving
Every kilometre you drive burns fuel and emits CO₂. Estimate your driving footprint and shred it — whether it’s a single road trip or a whole year of commuting.
Driving is most people’s second-biggest footprint
After flying, personal road transport is usually the largest single slice of an individual footprint. Switching trips to walking, cycling or transit — and eventually to an EV on a clean grid — cuts it at the source.
What counts as your driving footprint
This estimate covers the emissions from burning fuel over the distance you enter, for the vehicle class you pick. Use annual mileage for an ongoing offset, or a single trip distance for a one-off.
FAQ
How much CO2 does a car emit per kilometre?
A typical petrol passenger car emits roughly 0.15–0.2 kg CO₂e per kilometre, so 15,000 km a year lands around 2–3 tonnes. Larger vehicles and heavier traffic push it higher.
Should I offset an electric car?
An EV still carries emissions from generating the electricity it uses, unless your grid is fully renewable. It’s far lower than petrol, but not zero — offsetting the remainder is reasonable.
Is it better to offset once a year or monthly?
Either works. A yearly one-off suits a known mileage; a monthly subscription suits ongoing driving and keeps you covered without recalculating.
Cover everything, every month
A one-off offset handles this trip. A subscription keeps your whole footprint covered.
